The Victorian Government has invested $1.3 billion for new trams and supporting infrastructure to revitalise Melbourne’s tram network.

This investment includes the purchase of 80 next-generation E-Class trams — the largest on our network — as well as upgrades to Route 96 (the first route to receive the new trams), the redevelopment of two tram depots, accessibility improvements and power supply upgrades. the roll out of E-Class trams on Route 96 also means that other larger trams currently running on this route can move to other busy routes, as part of a cascading program.
